Magazine covers with the beauty queens on ‘em
Always end up in the trash
Trendy fashions transform into fads
Nothing lasts
Yeah, we can’t have the good without the bad
No, we can’t be happy without first being sad
Hide your wounded pride inside
Ride those tides
Don’t forget to smile every once in a while
Even though it always seems
Like we’re rolling smoothly
Right into a rut
But, such is the flux of life
Before you start to worry
Please promise me that you’ll see
The opportunity
In every difficulty
When pressure is pushing you down
Just know it’ll come back around
In the meantime…
Hide your wounded pride inside
Ride those tides
Don’t forget to smile every once in a while
Even though it always seems
Like we’re rolling smoothly
Right into a rut
But, such is the flux of life
Such is the flux of life
Endure the downs
Appreciate the ups
Every peak has two valleys
Endure the downs
Appreciate the ups
Every peak has two valleys
A mind devoted to negativity
Is blind to the ubiquitous beauties of reality
Don’t forget to smile every once in a while
Don’t forget to smile every once in a while
Even though it always seems
Like we’re rolling smoothly
Right into a rut
But everything will be all right
Such is the flux of life
nice....its got a nice rhythm to it...would def love to hear you sing it or at least the rhythm you gave it to see if it was the save...its encouraging and uplifting...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brian. I'll definitely upload the song by the time next week's OLN comes around.
Deleteha did not remember this one but you def have the beat going on and some wisdom along the way as well...the ups and downs....and hey you did not do to bad on the singing...smiles...its all fun...nice dran out words...smiles.
DeleteYup, it's all in good fun. Thanks for the kind words as always, Brian.
Deletewhat Brian said...
ReplyDeletewould love to hear it sung
I'll have it up by next week!
DeleteSo uplifting, almost like a song.
ReplyDeleteEventually I'll upload the song!
DeleteEvery peak has two valleys - and sometimes 4 or more too. It's tough to climb the mountain and fun to roll downhill. This is a delightful poem that makes me want to play on a hillside covered in grass.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteThis is very good, Alex. I would like to hear you sing! Perhaps you could do a You-tube video of yourself singing and then share it through blogger.....so true that there are ups and downs in life. Without the downs we would not appreciate the ups. And yes, every peak has two valleys. I really LIKE the words to your song!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary! I'll see if I can figure out how to upload it so you can hear me sing!
DeleteThis has great rhythm to it--I don't know how to load a song onto blogger, but if figure it out let me know!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWill do, thanks!
DeleteUpload it to Soundcloud first and then share/embed.
ReplyDeleteWould be nice to hear you sing this. Guitar?
Had my first lesson this weekend and are my fingers sore!
I reckon I'll have to go over to nylon strings.
Classical or electric. Not sure yet.
I don't know how to play the guitar yet but I plan on learning very soon. Thanks, Aprille, I'll try sound cloud.
Delete& good luck on learning the guitar! :)
DeleteVery nice Alex, I am smiling along with you ~
ReplyDeleteYes, soundcloud would be good start:

ReplyDeleteThanks, ayala :)
DeleteCool. I enjoyed this a lot.
ReplyDeleteLike we’re rolling smoothly
Right into a rut
Ain't it the truth? Such is the flux of life.
-Mike
Thanks for stopping by, Mike.
Deletetried to find what din't work here and I can say it all works well...the movement and tone are quite good...a setting
ReplyDeletePeace
Thanks for the kind words.
DeleteA wise song my friend.
ReplyDeleteNo, we can’t be happy without first being sad
Life is a trip between sad and glad. I felt good reading it, and would love to hear it sung.
Thanks, my friend. I'll post the song next week!
DeleteGood rolling rhythm and a great message! I love it, Alex!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Charles!
DeleteHave to have both as we surely can't have one without the other if we want growth
ReplyDeleteWell said!
DeleteWriting songs is quite different to writing poetry, I believe. Song lyrics often don't do well when viewed trough a poetic lens, but yours can hold their own. I'd love to hear it sung though ...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice comment.
DeleteLovely, Alex...I can just imagine sitting and listening to this. You ought to put it up on Soundcloud :)
ReplyDeleteIn the process of doing that right now!
DeleteOops...I should have also said...you can imbed soundcloud in blogger :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Louise :)
DeleteGood song. I look forward to the upload.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by & reading my work, Rosemary.
DeleteLike everyone else, I look forward to hearing you sing the words you've written--very nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the nice comment. It'll be up next Tuesday!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Jason!
Deleteenjoyed the voice giving life to your words!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it! Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteA constant state... peaks and troughs...
ReplyDeleteYou won't hear me sing... not even in the bath...!
A constant state despite the varying rate, almost like a heartbeat, really. I've always sang in secret so this is new to me, too!
DeleteExcellent poem and song. Your voice is better than Leonard Cohen or Tom Waits so keep on singing
ReplyDeleteI will take that as a compliment... I think lol. Thanks for stopping by, Steven!
DeleteFirst of all, amazing refrains... And I loved the rhymes. There is a certain rhythm to it which indeed provides it a plus factor.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind words.

DeleteLove ya! Bet you never got a reply like that:)
DeleteI decided to go through all 104 poems and just let my mind run completely free in the space of an hour or 2. I guess you can say completing another item off a life bucket list. :) I reflect what I see in words. Your words were an excellent flow of what my mind sees as the waves of life! Look forward to reading more from you!
Ah, I understand. Thanks for the kind words, Kate! Look forward to hearing more from you!
