Magazine covers with the beauty queens on ‘em
Always end up in the trash
Trendy fashions transform into fads
Nothing lasts
Yeah, we can’t have the good without the bad
No, we can’t be happy without first being sad

Hide your wounded pride inside
Ride those tides
Don’t forget to smile every once in a while
Even though it always seems
Like we’re rolling smoothly
Right into a rut
But, such is the flux of life

Before you start to worry
Please promise me that you’ll see
The opportunity
In every difficulty
When pressure is pushing you down
Just know it’ll come back around
In the meantime…

    nice....its got a nice rhythm to it...would def love to hear you sing it or at least the rhythm you gave it to see if it was the save...its encouraging and uplifting...

    Every peak has two valleys - and sometimes 4 or more too. It's tough to climb the mountain and fun to roll downhill. This is a delightful poem that makes me want to play on a hillside covered in grass.

    This is very good, Alex. I would like to hear you sing! Perhaps you could do a You-tube video of yourself singing and then share it through blogger.....so true that there are ups and downs in life. Without the downs we would not appreciate the ups. And yes, every peak has two valleys. I really LIKE the words to your song!

    Had my first lesson this weekend and are my fingers sore!
    I reckon I'll have to go over to nylon strings.
    Classical or electric. Not sure yet.

    Writing songs is quite different to writing poetry, I believe. Song lyrics often don't do well when viewed trough a poetic lens, but yours can hold their own. I'd love to hear it sung though ...

      A constant state despite the varying rate, almost like a heartbeat, really. I've always sang in secret so this is new to me, too!

    First of all, amazing refrains... And I loved the rhymes. There is a certain rhythm to it which indeed provides it a plus factor.

      I decided to go through all 104 poems and just let my mind run completely free in the space of an hour or 2. I guess you can say completing another item off a life bucket list. :) I reflect what I see in words. Your words were an excellent flow of what my mind sees as the waves of life!
